Superman will be coming to Illinois in July as he journeys by foot across America, visiting real cities and real neighborhoods that have been submitted by readers of the DC Superman comics.
Starting the walk in Philadelphia, Superman will make his way through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington.
Superman fans living within 50 miles of the cities of Chicago, Des Moines, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle can submit essays up to 1,000 words plugging their town or neighborhood to be included in the story titled “Grounded”. Nine winners will be selected.
Aside from reading the comics to bone up on your Superman trivia, you can watch Superman cartoons and movies on various channels carried by DISH Network. Be sure to know what you’re talking about, you know, in case you get a chance to chat with the Man of Steel.
A woman who was recently paroled from prison for burglary went door to door begging for money and then stole from those who gave to her. Yup, there’s another one for the “stupid criminals” file.
Linda Towell, 45-year-old Greenville career burglar, went door to door in Metro East neighborhoods, spinning a tale of woe in which she needed money to visit her sick mother in a St. Louis hospital. Not content with what was given to her, Towell returned, on at least three occasions, and stole more money from those who already offered her financial aid.
Towell was charged with three counts of felony theft and is currently being held in Madison County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
People like this are a good reminder why an ADT home security system is a good idea. You never know when someone has their sights set on your home as a stage to carry out their not-so-bright plans.
Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been warned to keep his expressions to himself.
June 3 saw the beginning of the corruption trial of the animated politician, and apparently prosecutors were so irked by his non-verbal communication that consisted of gestures, comments, and facial expressions that they complained. Judge James Zagel forbade Blagojevich from making any facial or other expressions during the trial.
Blagojevich has been charged 24 federal criminal counts, including bribery, extortion, and racketeering. Illinois Democrats are worried the stench from this rotten egg will sway voters against them come election time.
Be sure to watch news channels that are carried by DISH Network for continued coverage of the trial.
It has been confirmed that Illinois native Lisa Ann Russell, former Revlon model and guest star on Saved By The Bell: The College Years, will be divorcing her husband of 14 years, Mark Paul Gosselaar. The two met on the set of Saved By The Bel and have two children, ages 6 and 4.
Some reports are that Lisa is partying a little too hearty for Mark’s taste, but Mark’s representative shot down that idea, telling a source for People magazine that both parents remain focused on their children.
Saved By The Bell re-runs can be seen on the Disney Channel, which is offered by DISH Network. Watch it. You know you want to.
